Global Grace Hotel

There’s a colonial feel to the place, with high ceilings that make the large rooms feel even more spacious. The rooms are comfortable and the service was good. I'd recommend it for a short stay of 1-2 nights.

I’m pretty fussy about cleanliness and often feel grossed out even in hotels in the US, but I’d give this place 4/5 for that. The staff are super nice, and they don’t keep your passport, unlike the hotel by the lake. I’d come back here in Taungoo. The wooden bungalow rooms feel roomy and homey, and I prefer their beds to the ones at pricier places near the lake. Friends say the rooms in the two-storey building aren't as nice. There are fewer mosquitoes than by the lake, and the hotel sits on a large, well-kept compound with space for kids to run around, even though the neighborhood outside is crowded. I didn't like the toilet and shower combination, which seems common in Myanmar, even in upscale homes.

The price is good, and the service is acceptable. Rooms are large and clean, with WiFi available. There are clean swimming pools, 5-8 feet deep, plus karaoke with sweet ladies and spa services.

The official photos give the wrong impression. The hotel feels dirty and worn out, and badly needs refurbishing. It's right next to a nightclub, too.
