Hotel Royal King

Cockroaches were everywhere, including in the minibar, drawers, bathroom, on the countertops and headrest, and even in the bed. I’d ordered fried rice through room service, and while I showered they brought it up. I left it on the table to eat after my shower, but found cockroaches on the food. When I tried to move the plate, three more came out of the rice. My boyfriend called housekeeping, and they sprayed insect killer, which only seemed to scatter the cockroaches and make them agitated. We were offered another room and accepted because it was already past the time of the marshal law. We were careful not to touch anything there, worried we’d disturb another nest. While the first room was being sprayed, we waited in the lobby, where bedbugs bit me on my back and legs. You can see the bites on my back in the photo. We got no apology, no refund for the food or room, and no sign of regret, as if this happened to them all the time. The hotel was disgusting and horrible. If you’re looking for typhoid and diarrhea, you might as well go here.

The room was clean and normal, but don’t expect much by hotel standards. It’s mostly used for day staycations, and the price is fair. Customer service is weak. If you’re after an affordable staycation with your partner, it could work. Book or call ahead, though. They’re often full on weekends, and sometimes there are lots of people waiting.

The hotel service was really bad. I called reception around 10 times and nobody answered. If you ask them to do something, they won’t come unless you call again. The door doesn’t have a lock, which is terrible for a hotel.

Such a cute, lovable hotel, and the service is amazing. The staff were attentive and so helpful. It’s a bit away from the city center, but getting on the local buses makes that manageable.
