I stayed there once with my wife. The rooms were very good, and the service was great. You can find Lai Lai Hotel at Chaung Tha, but it has now changed its name and a new hotel called New Ayerwaddy has been built.

They specialize in traditional hand grab food from Myanmar Northern Shan State, which I recommend. They also have some Chinese dishes, including GongBao Chicken and dry lamb salad.

It’s downtown and crowded, and not suited to high end travelers. Customer care is good, though. There’s no kitchen, but you can order food from a nearby bar.
