Panda Hotel in Yangon was a letdown. The reception team didn't seem friendly or professional, which made the start unpleasant. The hotel felt dated and had a noticeable bad smell. The mattress, linens, and pillows were all below a reasonable standard, making it hard to feel comfortable. It didn't meet my expectations for a pleasant stay.

It's on elevated ground with views of the Yangon skyline, in a quiet residential neighborhood near the city center. The property has 117 rooms with standard amenities. Free WiFi is available throughout, and there's free parking, an on-site restaurant and bar, luggage storage, shuttle service, and family rooms. Wedding and function facilities are also available. It's an affordable downtown option with convenient access to major attractions and essentials including a 24-hour front desk.

I went to a wedding there last week. The hall ceiling is very low, and there are lots of obstacles blocking the view of the stage. The sound box also didn't work, so I couldn't hear the wedding announcer's blessing.

The room was tidy and clean, with good furnishings, though there was no iron or ironing board despite paid laundry being available. Breakfast offered a range of Asian food and room rates were reasonable. The weak WiFi connection dragged down the other good points, so I'd only give the hotel three stars.
