Hotel Shwe Yee

The one person who was consistently welcoming was the boy at the top-floor bar. He smiled and greeted customers politely. The pool water was dirty, though, and at reception three staff members kept chatting among themselves when we came back. None of them answered or even smiled. It happened more than once. I chose the hotel after seeing good reviews, so I came away disappointed. If it wants to call itself a 3-star hotel, it still has a long way to go.

It’s very quiet here since the hotel isn’t on a through street. The gym has everything you need, and there’s a small rooftop pool too. The air conditioning is sufficient, the WiFi is okay, and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

There’s a spectacular rooftop view of the nearby pagoda. The pool is small, but it’s a nice way to cool off while enjoying the view. Rooms are spacious and very clean, the staff are friendly, and breakfast is extensive and really tasty, with both western and asian options.

Breakfast is amazing, with buffet options, and the place has a lovely rooftop area with a pool, terrace and small pub, gym machines, and a shop selling local items. The personnel are superb, always smiling and happy to help. It’s within walking distance of mian pagoda!
