Erdenet Inn

The hotel was generally clean, though a bit run down. What made the stay unacceptable was how little care the staff seemed to show. After breakfast, around 8 am, I was in the bathroom when someone knocked three times. I asked them to wait each time, but the cleaning lady came straight into the room while I was on the toilet. When I raised it in the lobby, nobody seemed sorry. Dinner on the top floor was also a mess. Our group of nine ordered in English, which the staff spoke well, and the food that arrived was good. But three dishes never came, and when we asked, we were told the cook had already left. It took almost two hours for the meal, and I was left without food. I can only assume the cook got fed up and went home. Breakfast the next morning wasn't ready when promised because, we were told, the cook had overslept. We had arrived at 16:30 with a large party of nine plus four drivers and a guide, and my room was still being cleaned. It wasn't ready until after 18:00, so I couldn't settle in before then. That delay was annoying, but I would have let it go on its own. I'm generally a tolerant person. I understand there may be cultural differences, and I wasn't expecting the same service as in a bigger city or another country. I can accept waiting for a room, and even sympathize with cooks who may be underpaid and working long hours. But all these incidents left me feeling the hotel doesn't care about its guests. I wouldn't return, and I strongly recommend avoiding it.
