Pousada de Coloane Boutique Hotel

It’s an older property, but well kept, and feels like a genuine four-star hotel. The rooms all face the beach, and cleaning is thorough. Breakfast is included, though the selection is limited. That didn’t bother me much. The staff are friendly and will help arrange a taxi, which is useful because the place is quite remote.

The property has a lot of old Macau Portuguese character, and the rooms are large and clean, if not modern. They also have a large bathtub. It feels more like a bed and breakfast than a four-star hotel, but there’s still a lot to like. The pool is currently empty, so swimming isn’t possible. Take some time to wander around nearby Coloane.

The balcony had an amazing view, and the beach is close by. Staff were polite and always helpful, and breakfast tasted good. The only drawback is that the hotel is far from the city.

The location was excellent, just a two-minute walk to the beach and 35 minutes to the local village, home of the famous Lord Stow egg tarts, a 1 Michelin star establishment. The rooms were clean and tidy, though a bit old and tired. We had four meals during our two-night stay. Both breakfasts were good, with a great selection of hot and cold food. The first night’s dinner included fish balls, melon and ham, African chicken, and clams in white wine and garlic, which were nice. On the second night we had cod fried rice and salmon with vegetables, and both dishes were very average.
