YOHO Treasure Island Hotel

The room’s modern comforts felt mostly for show. The TV switches itself on with loud sound every time you enter, and the entryway lights kept malfunctioning and turning on when we didn’t want them to, waking us up. Management did nothing when we raised these problems. The elevators are slow, and there’s no pool service. We booked a suite and requested a proper crib for our baby, but they brought a dirty playpen with no mattress instead. The hotel looks modern, but the service isn’t what you’d expect from Western hotels, and it doesn’t seem equipped to provide proper service. There aren’t many downtown Macau hotels, so this was one of our few choices. It looks glossy, but has a lot of cracks, and staying here was truly frustrating.

The bathroom had no bidet, which I’d expect at a luxury hotel, and the door didn’t lock, so I didn’t feel I had privacy. There was also too little space in the bathroom to store clothes, with not enough shelves or cabinets, so I had to leave my things in inconvenient places. Staff entered our room several times even though we repeatedly hung the “Do Not Disturb” sign. That felt intrusive and disrespectful of our privacy. My stay at Yoho Treasure Island Hotel was disappointing for a place marketed as luxury. I expected better facilities, more care for guest privacy, and more thoughtful amenities for the premium price. I hope management takes these problems seriously.

The lakeside walkway and parks were especially nice, and there are plenty of shops and restaurants in the hotel, along with a supermarket and the newly opened Galleries Lafayette. Several well-known hotels are nearby, including Wynn, Grand Lisbon, and MGM. Our room and bathroom were roomy, and the bench by the window was great.

I stayed from 24-27 August and paid a MOP 1,000 deposit for each of two bookings by credit card at check-in. Several months have passed since checkout, and neither refund has arrived. I’ve followed up by email and received no reply. I hope YOHO Treasure Island Hotel takes this seriously, responds promptly, and returns the outstanding deposits without further delay.
