The Village Apartments

The area was full of young English people partying, making lots of noise and playing music late into the night. If you want to get some rest, you may want to choose another area. The apartment was very big and spacious, but during our six-day stay nobody cleaned it or changed the towels or anything else. The TV in the room didn’t work, and the elevator to the 4th floor was out of order. Those issues would be easy to fix and would make the stay much better.

The apartment itself was nice, but we had a hard time with the basics. Parking nearby was really difficult, and the kitchen could have used more cutlery and cooking items for a big family with kids. The Wi-Fi was very bad, street noise came through, and the water pressure in the suite bathroom was too weak for a proper bath. Check-in was handled by a very rude older gentleman, and communication was difficult because he didn't reply.

The apartment was spotless and close enough to the beach and shops, around a 5 to 10 minute walk. It also blocked out the car horns pretty well, though there was plenty of construction noise around, which seems to be part of life on Malta. Our balcony looked over a disused courtyard and an unused pool with broken furniture. The apartment had the basics, plus a washing machine, but no way to hang towels to dry; the kitchen had no toaster, baking trays or grill pan, and just one small frying pan and two big pots. Neither TV worked. There was only one lift for two people across seven floors, so it got backed up when the cleaners were using it. I also hadn't been told that the keys had to be collected at Relax Inn, an 8 minute walk away. After 12 hours of travel, being dropped at the apartments and then having to walk through dark streets was really annoying.

The apartment was in a great spot, with the ferry and bus stops nearby and several supermarkets down the street. My sister had booked it for herself and her girlfriends, and I joined them for two nights. I found it a very nice place to stay, and both the bedroom and bathroom were clean.
