AX ODYCY Hotel

The staff were wonderful when my 80-year-old granny fell badly while we were out in Valetta. We took a taxi back, and reception and the security and first-aid team quickly checked her, cleaned her up, and helped us stay calm. They offered to call a doctor, but advised that she should go to hospital, then helped arrange a taxi to the local health centre, which was faster than an ambulance. They even reminded us to bring her passports. Everyone we met in Malta was friendly, and the hotel team's English was excellent. The hotel itself is lovely, with clean, nicely presented rooms, indoor and outdoor pools (the outdoor one isn't heated), and a really good, varied breakfast. Staff were quick to clear extra plates, too.

Mary Lou has made our five-night stay especially lovely. She's friendly, brightens the place up, and has gone out of her way to look after us. The hotel is clean and spacious, the food is amazing, and the location is beautiful. We've had such a fantastic time that we're planning to return again this year. The meals were a highlight for us. There weren't endless buffet choices, but the food was excellent, with enough variety and different dishes each day that we never got tired of it. The coffee bar was handy too: we could sit in or take things away, and with all-inclusive we could grab sandwiches and yogurts for outings with our toddler. They had desserts as well, and both the coffee bar and restaurant staff were welcoming. We stayed a week in a Quadruple Room with Sea View. It was spacious, had a lovely view, and the one balcony shared by the two rooms worked fine for our family. There's a bus stop right outside, plus a decent gym and a kids club that was useful on quieter days. The lifts were slow at times, and the showers could have had more pressure, though neither spoiled our stay. We'd recommend the hotel for its food, friendly service, and convenience.

We were impressed by the little touches. Housekeeping saw that we'd moved the children into a different room and rearranged the beds without us asking, with separate beds for them and a large one for us. Everyone we dealt with was warm and helpful, and the hotel was very clean. We'd booked a higher-standard room, then got upgraded to an even better one with a beautiful sea view. The food was phenomenal, especially the special menu and elegant New Year's Eve dinner. There were also various events that made our stay more enjoyable. We'd gladly return.
