AX The Palace Hotel

We were two couples and stayed from 30Jan to 3Feb 2026 in a Superior room with a balcony. The staff were amazing every day. Housekeeping went above and beyond: my toiletries were lined up neatly in the bathroom each morning, and phone charging cables were rolled up and placed on the bedside cabinet. We chose bed and breakfast, and there was a good spread of hot and cold food, fresh fruit, and juices. We asked for a table in the quiet part of the restaurant, and they set one up without hesitation. Every member of staff went above and beyond, and we’ll definitely stay again. The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the sea in almost every direction, with lots of local shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. From the seafront, the ferry to Valletta is much faster and more scenic than the bus or taxi.

We spent a week here as a family, two adults and a small child, and had a wonderful stay. The location is on a quiet street, within walking distance of public transport, supermarkets, seaside promenades, shopping centers, and stores. Breakfast had a good selection, though most of it was the same each day. There are also several restaurants and a café for lunch and dinner. Our room upgrade from Superior Room to the Music Suite cost a small extra fee and was well worth it. The suite was bright, spacious, and unique, with two comfortable king-size beds, a large bathroom, drums, a high-quality music sound system, and a big terrace with a jacuzzi and stunning views of the city and Valletta. We were welcomed with champagne and a fruit platter. Housekeeping was excellent, with cleaning twice daily and water refilled every day. The team were exceptionally friendly and attentive. Though we arrived before official check-in, they offered us breakfast on our first day, stored our luggage, prepared the room early, and let us use the pool while we waited. Booking was easy, cancellation was flexible, online check-in saved time on arrival, and we were told in advance that a last-minute room upgrade might be possible. There are two pools. The rooftop one has sea views but wasn’t heated during our stay. The indoor pool has a sauna and steam room, though it’s smaller than the photos suggest and holds 18 people. It’s shared with guests from AX The Victoria, so it could get more crowded in high season, but that wasn’t a problem while we were there. The hotel met all our expectations. It’s comfortable and family-friendly, and worked well for a longer stay. We’d gladly return and highly recommend it.

We came from the UK in February 2026 and were allowed to check in early. They offered us complimentary drinks on arrival, which made things convenient from the start. The hotel is tucked on a quiet street but close to main streets and the coast. Staff were pleasant, polite, helpful, and welcoming. We stayed half board, and both the quality and range of food were superb. Our deluxe room had plenty of space, tea and coffee, a balcony, and a comfortable bed. We weren’t disturbed at night by anything inside or outside the hotel. At checkout, which is by 12 latest, they offered to keep our luggage until our airport transport arrived. The service was top class and we had a fantastic experience. Highly recommended. If we return to Malta, we’ll book AX The Palace without hesitation.

There was a small reservation problem when we arrived, but the staff dealt with it professionally and moved us to a better room as an apology. They were kind and helpful, and the hotel was clean and well maintained. Breakfast had lots of options and was good. Great service overall.
