Best View Fortina Luxury Suites

The only downside was the pool area across the road. It plays house music from morning until late, and it’s loud enough to feel like it’s coming from inside your apartment. The apartment itself is huge, the biggest I’ve ever rented for a holiday, and has high-end appliances. The balcony’s view is hard to beat, with outdoor seating and a lounge bed. There’s an outdoor pool right across the road, plus an indoor pool.

The terrace was lovely at sunrise and sunset, and our spacious, front-facing two-bedroom apartment had a relaxing lounge and fast internet. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. We ate at TORA across the road for Asian food and at Manta another evening for Mediterranean-style dishes. Breakfast is available at the nearby Barceló Fortina Malta, and The Point Shopping Mall is only minutes away on foot. There are shops, restaurants, and sights nearby, and it’s a good base for visiting Malta from Sliema. Valletta is close by taxi or ferry. The Sliema Ferry port is just a few minutes down the road. The apartment also has an amazing view towards Valletta.

The space and the view were phenomenal, but there were several problems with the stay. The location was hard to find when we arrived, and entry required a key card. We got in because someone happened to come out, then met a very unfriendly receptionist who at first wanted to send us back to the hotel. One of the daytime receptionists was unfriendly, on her phone, or asleep. The listing said there was a swimming pool, but sunbeds had to be reserved for at least €30 per person per day, with the price going up to €90. There were so few that none were available for the first few days. Our arrival also found dirty laundry left by the previous guests. The safe, outdoor light, and sliding door were broken. We reported everything on Friday, but it wasn’t sorted until Monday, and the sliding door was still broken. The kitchen was described as fully equipped, though apparently a teapot wasn’t included.

We rented this modern, lovely apartment during our Malta stay. The sea and Valletta views are absolutely unbeatable.
