Two Pillows Boutique Hostel

The location worked well, with food nearby and lots of bus routes. The staff were friendly, the kitchen looked good, and the free towel and padlock were nice extras. The four-bed ensuite room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was adequate, though it could have had shower gel and the ventilation fan wasn’t working. The hostel seemed clean and modern, which made the bug problem especially disappointing. I was bitten repeatedly over both nights and it kept interrupting my sleep. I also missed having privacy curtains. They had spa facilities, though I didn’t try them.

Getting to Valletta by ferry takes about five minutes, so I’d choose that over the bus. Sliema itself is a great place to spend a few days, and the location was perfect. The staff were amazing. It also felt more like a boutique hotel than a hostel, with a spa area that had a jacuzzi and sauna.

The neighborhood made it easy to reach nearly everything, and the staff were caring and very kind. Our room was spacious, attractive, new, and especially clean. The soundproofing, though, was quite poor. The walls were thick, but sound came through the door frames and we could hear everything. By bad luck, someone in the neighboring building was hammering from 7 to 10 p.m. and sometimes drilling around 9 in the morning. That was outside the hotel’s control, so I haven’t counted it against the final score.

Two Pillows Hostel felt friendly and welcoming, and I felt safe the whole time. It was also very clean, in a great spot, and had a kitchen with everything I needed. I absolutely loved staying there and would highly recommend it to travelers.
