The layout worked well, and the bed was relatively comfortable, but the hotel felt like 3 stars at most, not 4. Amenities were minimal, and there was dust in the corners. I noticed a lot of it when I had to plug in the fridge. One male receptionist was unfriendly, didn’t smile, and showed only the bare minimum of courtesy with customers. He shouldn’t be working in customer service. The mosquitoes bothered me most. I can’t understand how there were mosquitoes in November, but they attacked me every night and I couldn’t sleep. Breakfast was generic and I didn’t enjoy it, so I went out to restaurants for the last two days. I’d had high expectations because of the rating.

Monica gave us a lovely first impression when we checked in. She was at reception, and her friendliness really set the tone. The room was comfortable and clean, and the breakfast was good, though the eggs were a little too hard-boiled for my taste. The staff were all super friendly, and they offer complimentary wine between 6-7 pm.

I spent two days in Malta on a business trip and chose 19Rooms in Valetta. It’s a small, lovely hotel, with a warm welcome and a clean, tidy room in a modern style. The rooftop terrace has an exceptional view over Valetta and Sliema. Breakfast is small but plentiful. Would I recommend it? Definitely yes, especially if you want to avoid the big hotel chains.

The staff were friendly, and breakfast had a nice local touch. The rooftop terrace is a great place to watch small boats move through the harbour, with a stunning view across Valletta and the bay. The hotel is in an amazing spot at the edge of Valletta’s old city, near the entrance to the "little" harbour. Although the Grand Master's Palace and other busy tourist spots are only a few blocks away, the street itself is calm and quiet.
