Easy to get into the building with a code, and the location is near a small playground for families. It's easy to reach by Uber. Buses are trickier, since you have to walk through Valletta's cobbled streets with some uphill and downhill along the way. With luggage, it's best to go around and outside the city center. The place was okay, but cleaning was an issue for my friends. It wasn't spacious enough, and there was too much furniture inside.

The apartment was clean and modern, with a lovely traditional Valletta balcony. Ours had a bedroom and a living room with a kitchenette, and the owners were so welcoming that nothing felt like a problem. It’s just a short walk to the center, in a really handy spot. We’d postponed our stay from the previous September, and were very grateful the owners let us move it. Thank you for such a lovely time in Valletta.

We stayed at Carmelita Valletta in February 2020, right before the covid lockdown, and had a great time. The apartment was beautifully decorated and worked well for our little family, two adults and a child. It’s in a very convenient location, though the city center is quite full, so we parked in a large car park a little way from the apartment. The owner was pleasant. If we come back to Malta, we’ll try to stay here again.

I had to cancel suddenly when corona restrictions and lockdowns meant I couldn’t fly to Malta that night. I wasn’t allowed on board, even though I was vaccinated and had all the necessary documents. I know other people were able to fly from the same country, but the rules were changing every day, and this situation wasn’t something I could have planned. The airline would have to explain why I was refused boarding. I contacted the hosts about getting some money back because I couldn’t use the booking due to an unexpected life situation. I’ve never had an issue like this before or needed to leave a bad review, but they showed no understanding. Their only concern seemed to be that they couldn’t resell the property. My whole holiday was ruined, and asking for some consideration felt like too much for them. Friends have told me about getting refunds on non-refundable stays when they couldn’t travel. Those hosts showed some heart, which I can’t say about these owners. I received zero humane understanding. Think twice before booking: unexpected problems can happen to anyone, and not refunding even part of the payment says a lot. I’m sorry this is how you run your business. Making money shouldn’t mean forgetting compassion. I’m sure taking money from our misery won’t make you happy. Don’t be surprised if you run into trouble yourself one day and the universe doesn’t help you. Don’t be disappointed.
