Casa Lapira

The location was great and the sheets were clean, and the staff were friendly. But there was black mould in the shower corner, the toaster was greasy and dirty, and ants were swarming around it from a hole in the wall. We contacted the owner about fixing the ant problem and never heard back. The baggage storage area was right in front of the doorway and wasn’t always staffed, so it didn’t feel secure. We paid to use a separate luggage locker place on our last day. We also tried the owner’s restaurant and waited an hour for food on a night that wasn’t very busy. The food was good, but the wait was far too long. Stick to one thing and do it right.

I loved my six nights here. Paul was a great host and carried my case up and down the many steps to the accommodation. The studio room was beautiful, immaculate, and in a lovely old building in the heart of the old town. It had a kitchenette, excellent air conditioning, and a great shower. A couple of outdoor restaurants nearby can get a little noisy, but they close at 10:30 and I barely noticed them.

Casa Lapira was a great find. The rooms were exceptionally clean, with a comfortable stay, excellent high-pressure hot shower, and air conditioning. Paul, the owner, was helpful and available. There’s lots happening outside, but it quiets down later at night. It’s an ideal spot if you’re boarding a cruise ship, with a 10-minute walk to the port. Even if that isn’t why you’re in Valletta, it’s a wonderful place to stay near charming pedestrian streets, shops, and restaurants. The one thing to keep in mind is there’s no elevator. That worked for me, but may not for everyone.

The building has a distinctive design, and it’s in a very good location in the best part of Valletta. The rooms aren’t anything special, but they’re perfectly fine for a short stay and have everything you need.
