San Karlu Hotel

We picked San Karlu for our first trip to Malta, a family holiday to welcome the New Year, and it couldn’t have been a better choice. Its staff were warm, professional, and attentive from the moment we arrived. The hotel is right in the heart of Valletta, within easy walking distance of restaurants, historic sites, and the waterfront, but it still felt peaceful and quiet. The design blends timeless character with modern comfort, and everything felt thoughtfully chosen, calm, and high quality. Our room and the common areas were spotless and well maintained throughout. Breakfast was another highlight, with good quality options that made an easy start to the day for the whole family. A wonderful experience and a perfect introduction to Malta. Highly recommended.

The drain smell in our room was bad and quite off-putting, though I know that can be difficult to fix. There was a lot we liked too. The whole hotel was very clean, with spacious, attractive rooms and a large, comfortable bed. The reception had a lovely fresh smell when we came in, and the front desk staff always greeted us with a smile and were happy to help. When I mentioned it was my Husband's birthday, they left a wonderful greeting for him in our room. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of options, and the location was handy for nearby attractions while still quiet. The rooftop pool was lovely, though we couldn’t use it during our extremely windy January trip. It would be wonderful in summer.

The hotel was beautiful, and breakfast was excellent, with fresh juice. It was very quiet where we stayed, with only birds and bells each morning, and the location suited us well. There’s a rooftop swimming pool, though it isn’t used in winter. It was still a nice spot to take a few photos. Thanks to the staff for cleaning the room.

The location was nice and breakfast was decent, but the bedroom had no air conditioning. The hotel says it has air conditioning and a swimming pool, but neither was true during our stay. The heating stayed on the whole time, making the rooms far too hot. Staff offered us a fan, and the pool never opened during our stay.
