U Collection Suites & Apartments

We’ve stayed at Panoramic twice now, and would happily come back. Valletta can get pretty hectic, but here you’re right in the central part of the city without being swallowed up by all the noise and activity. There’s a lovely balcony overlooking the square, where you can sit and listen to the sounds below. The accommodation is comfortable and spread over two levels, with the bedroom and bathroom downstairs and the living area up a short flight of stairs. There’s air conditioning if you need it. The host was incredibly helpful from the booking onwards, even arranging a driver to meet us at the airport. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. Cliff and Liz

Valletta’s a great base for exploring Malta, and we’ll definitely stay at U Collection again. We were in the penthouse in January 2022 and loved the whole experience. Umberto even arranged a concierge service for the airport transfers. Matthew looked after us brilliantly, and I’d recommend him if you need a driver or concierge. The views are the thing I keep thinking about. There are three balconies or terraces, all with exceptional views, and the lower terrace has a huge, warm jacuzzi. We had one issue during our stay, but Umberto got it sorted within an hour. The duplex penthouse is reached by lift. Inside, it mixes comfortable modern and antique furniture with tiled floors. There’s a good kitchen, fast Wi-Fi, a huge smart TV with Netflix and YouTube, a big sofa bed, and a comfortable king-size bed upstairs. The bathroom is stylish, with a rain shower. The entrance is also very smart and clean, with a red carpet. And there’s a Maltese clock on the stairs that was the finest we saw in Malta. It’s stunning to look at. You’re in the very centre of Valletta, with a supermarket a minute away in Is-Suq Tal-Belt food hall. The food there wasn’t as good as other places we tried, though. For takeaway, The Submarine at Triq il-merkanti 42 makes an exceptional sandwich. Get the Porchetta Ftira! The locals were friendly and helpful, and the area felt very safe. If you’re from the UK or Ireland, the plugs are the same three-pin type. Maltese drivers use the correct side of the road, just a bit faster. I hadn’t realised how much Malta had to offer. The history is incredible, and I wasn’t expecting such variety in the food, or such good quality and value. From street food to Michelin-star restaurants, it’s a food lover’s paradise. As a chef, I can honestly say it’s the best place where I’ve consistently eaten great food. There are so many restaurants near the penthouse that you won’t get to all of them, so make a list before you go. We also stumbled across a few tiny, amazing places we hadn’t found online, and now I’ve got a good list of places to try next time. It was a five-star experience, and we loved every minute in Malta, even freezing on an open-top bus. 10/10. I’d recommend U Collection 100%, though I won’t tell everyone or it’ll get booked out.

We had a great stay in the Duplex. The host was so welcoming, helpful, proactive, and easy to get hold of. The apartment was spacious and very clean, with everything we needed. It’s right in the centre, but tucked away on a quiet side street. Highly recommend!

I stayed here with a friend for a couple of nights in the summer and found three cockroaches in the apartment. I understand Malta’s humid climate can bring pests like that, but it still wasn’t a pleasant experience.
