The apartment is still comfortable and nice, with the sea, restaurants and a convenience shop all within walking distance. My one gripe is the alarm that goes off at 09.30 on departure day. It feels like being woken up by the army!
Hello, I’m really disappointed with the room we were given. It didn’t match the photos or the online description. The noise made it very hard to sleep. The main entrance door slams whenever people come or go, even during the night, and we felt unsafe because anyone can open that entrance without the code we were given. The TV also kept freezing or closing the video. I couldn’t get through even a 10-minute clip without it stopping. The room had several other problems too. There were visible stains on the walls, including what looked like a handprint, and the curtains were marked. We’d booked a double bed, but got two separate beds pushed together. The sheets were too small, so the mattresses shifted around and we couldn’t sleep properly. The bathroom tap wobbled because it wasn’t properly fixed to the sink. For what we paid, the quality wasn’t there. I’ve stayed in better three-star rooms. This definitely isn’t a four-star hotel.
The view was amazing, and everything was great. We had a few nights here in January and really liked the place. People can find something to complain about anywhere if they look hard enough, even in their own homes. I’ve seen photos where guests had moved furniture just to check for something bad underneath. It’s a hotel, not your home, and it won’t feel like home. One practical thing: I’d secure the BBQ on the balcony if I ran the hotel. We had a storm one night, and the wind pushed it around like it was walking by itself. Still, there was a BBQ there to use, which felt like a luxury :)
The noise made it impossible for us to relax, and we ended up leaving a night early because of the mold. Traffic from the busy main road to the north runs right below the windows day and night, and the windows don’t block the sound. We were also right next to a motorcycle gathering place. None of this was mentioned when booking. The listing description and photos were misleading. The accommodation was in very poor shape, nowhere near deluxe. The curtains and bed linen were torn, and the rooms were badly worn. The advertised roof terrace was closed off and unavailable, and it wasn’t furnished like the photos either. We were moved to another room, where there was a lot of mold in and behind the cupboard. Guest pillows were stored there and had mold on them too, as shown in the photos. The spare room mattress was badly worn, and the kitchen and shower grout was very moldy. To me, this comes close to fraud.
For the price, I thought it was great value, though the rooms aren’t the most pristine and this isn’t a hotel. We had an upper-floor sea-view room, which was quieter than the lower floors because the area has busy vehicle traffic. The living room and bathroom were a nice size. Digital staff were very responsive, though it takes some getting used to having no receptionist and very little in-person contact. Transit and convenience stores are just steps away, but there aren’t as many restaurants around as in some other neighbourhoods. I’d give it a 4.5, really.
