That huge terrace made my short stay in Albion, just three days at the end of six weeks in Mauritius, feel special. Half was private to my first-floor studio, with sea views, sunsets and a look down to the little pool and sunbeds. The other half had shared sun loungers, a swing seat, and a table and chairs. I’m definitely coming back. Sara and her husband Stephan were lovely, always helpful, and live just across the road. The locked gate felt reassuring in this quiet area, and a key box meant I could check myself in and come and go whenever I liked. There’s also a shaded swinging egg chair near the stairs, plus a laundry room with a washing machine, dishwasher, drying racks, cushions for the sunbeds and other bits. There’s a washing line behind the downstairs apartments too. Everything was clean, tidy and well looked after. The studio suited me perfectly. Its IKEA furniture was right up my street, and the single bed also works as a sofa, with another single bed that pulls out underneath for two people. There’s plenty of cupboard and wardrobe space, a little fridge with a freezer compartment, two hotplates, a toastie maker, a microwave with a grill, and loads of dishes, glasses and cutlery. I had everything I needed to cook for myself, including washing-up liquid, cloths and a tea towel. There’s a wall safe as well. The separate bathroom is spacious, with room to store suitcases, and has a big, powerful shower with a waterfall head. Towels and a beach or pool towel were provided. I can’t recommend the place enough.

The hosts were wonderfully attentive, and nothing seemed like a problem for them. We had a great week at Abiki. The place was immaculate and had everything we needed, with the beach, shops and restaurants all within walking distance. It’s a lovely base for exploring the island.

The beach is only about a five-minute walk away, a lovely spot to unwind or catch the sunset. Abiki was spotless and fully equipped, so we felt right at home in the apartment. Our hosts were so kind and happy to help us plan our days, with great local tips that made our trip extra special. We had a wonderful stay and would be glad to return.

You’ll want a car here. It makes it easy to reach good beaches and get around the island, with most places under two hours away when traffic allows. It’s also useful for picking up supplies: the nearest supermarket shut the day we arrived and moved to a new mall that’s quite a walk away. There’s a good restaurant nearby and a few more places to eat farther out. The apartment was a peaceful place to stay, and Sara and Stephan were professional and easy to reach if we had questions or a problem. We’d happily recommend Abiki. They’ll take good care of you.

Albion is a charming, peaceful village with lovely natural surroundings and an authentic feel. The apartment was in a great spot for excursions, clean and fully equipped, and even had a coffee machine. Sara and Stephan welcomed us warmly and took care of all our requests. We also really appreciated that a late check-out was no trouble before our evening flight. We’d love to come back.
