LUX* Grand Gaube

The food was excellent, and we loved the piano player at breakfast every other day. Watersports were really well organized too. The service was perfect, with thoughtful touches like having someone clean your sunglasses every day. Best hotel in Mauritius for us, we couldn’t have asked for more.

The views and beaches were gorgeous, and the hotel itself was stunning for our honeymoon. Our room was nice. We only booked bed and breakfast, but the food was great. There were quite a lot of flies on the fruit, even with it in a separate room behind a door, and a couple of times I found ants in my sugar jar on the table.

The water around Grand Guabe was a little disappointing: it isn’t the clear water Mauritius is known for, but looks milky white because of a kind of clay in the sand. They do run regular boat trips to snorkel in clearer areas, though. Everything else was such a great experience. The resort is stunning, the staff everywhere were helpful and friendly, and the food was the best we’ve ever had in Mauritius. There are plenty of water activities, and we loved every moment. We’d recommend it to everyone!

We loved the beautiful, peaceful resort and its facilities. The pastries and croissants are a must, and having the excellent coffee at Café LUX* with them became a daily treat. Most of the hospitality was outstanding, especially Yousra, who was brilliant and incredibly attentive. I gave the stay four stars because the person at the water sports booking desk was blunt and unwelcoming. Her manner was discouraging and didn’t match the friendly five-star service we received from the rest of the team. We still loved our time there. The atmosphere and facilities are superb, and more consistent service would make this an easy 10/10. It was a breathtaking setting, a perfect mix of luxury and serenity for our Mauritian holiday.
