Hotel Riu Turquoise - All Inclusive

The kids had a fantastic time at the pool and RUILand, and it was easy for us to relax knowing they were enjoying a safe, fun environment. The whole resort felt warm and relaxing, and very well suited to families. We stayed at Riu Turquoise Hotel with our kids and had an amazing experience from the moment we arrived. Staff made us feel welcome and looked after. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and well maintained. There was a good variety of excellent food for everyone, including the kids, and the energetic entertainment team had activities going throughout the day. It was a memorable, enjoyable stay, exactly what we needed. Highly recommended for a fun, stress-free family holiday!

There was always something to do thanks to the varied entertainment. The food selection was impressive too, with a wide range of cuisines and plenty of fish. Staff were exceptionally friendly and willing to help or accommodate requests. It was easy to find sunbeds by the ocean and pools, and there was plenty of greenery around, which made the atmosphere calm and refreshing. The beautiful views were another highlight. We had a very enjoyable, comfortable stay and would definitely recommend this hotel.

The kids’ water park was my daughter’s biggest letdown. I’d been building it up for a whole week before we arrived, only to find it broken and dirty, with frogs swimming in it. That’s really unacceptable for a family resort. We’d mainly come to celebrate her birthday and had told the hotel in advance, but reception didn’t know about it when we asked. We were also surprised that the birthday cake cost extra despite the all-inclusive package. It wasn’t the end of the world, but other hotels we’ve stayed at usually make an effort for special occasions. From the beginning, everything felt cold and disorganized. The crowded lobby had no welcome drinks or refreshing towels, and nobody offered to help with luggage. Check-in was rushed with hardly any information, and no one showed us to the room. We had to ask for help; one luggage staff member just pointed the way, though another staff member eventually assisted us. Service elsewhere also felt poor and impersonal. When I asked a waiter for a cappuccino while sitting outside, he told me to walk to the main hall bar and get it myself. It may sound minor, but after the service we’ve had at other Mauritian hotels, it felt lazy. Most of the buffet food was bland. We couldn’t book the steakhouse either, so we were stuck eating at the buffet every day, which defeats the purpose of paying for all-inclusive. The room phone didn’t work at all during our stay, and wind and rain kept the balcony soaked, so we couldn’t relax outside. No one properly explained that even though checkout from the room is at 12:00, guests can still use the facilities and have lunch until 15:00. We’d already called a taxi from far away, so we had to leave early and pull my daughter out of the pool unnecessarily. I’ve stayed in many hotels across Mauritius, from budget to luxury, and this didn’t feel like the warm Mauritian hospitality people come here for. Overall, a very disappointing stay that didn’t live up to expectations.

The view from our room was unbelievable, with Lemorne mountain and the sea both in sight. Everything else was great except the entertainment. There was a DJ playing and people dancing in the lobby, but he stopped suddenly at 7:45 pm while it was still full of people having drinks. It would’ve been great if the DJ had stayed until at least 8:30 pm.
