Pointe d’Esny was the best beach we visited, and it’s close by. Staying here also gave us a glimpse of local life in a unique part of the country. It’s a great first stop after arriving in Mauritius, especially with the lovely couple running the place. They looked after all our needs, even when busy. Be just as nice to Connie & Percy and give them a big hug. Love from Asli and Gencer.

Our honeymoon at Auberge SeaFever, from 28th Nov 2024 to 4th Dec 2024, was deeply disappointing. We booked after reading the glowing reviews, but Connie and Pary made the stay feel stressful and uncomfortable. We felt judged and monitored instead of welcomed, and the hosts often reacted aggressively when we raised concerns. The breakfast was just bread, butter, jam, a little fruit and one egg. Even with that basic spread, we were repeatedly told to give advance notice if we wanted to skip breakfast. It felt like staying in a hostel with strict wardens. When I asked for the bathroom bin to be cleaned, I was handed a plastic bag instead of getting housekeeping. My husband, who likes talking with people, was told to keep things calm and silent. One morning, I moved an empty bottle left on the common kitchen floor by other guests, and when it made a slight clink, Pary hurried in and shushed me. All these little things made the place feel suffocating and closely monitored. The room was uncomfortable in the heat. The AC was turned off every morning until evening, supposedly to save energy and because the weather was nice. The fan ran too slowly for the heat and humidity. When I asked if it could be checked, I was told it was fine, followed by a long explanation that the speed regulator worked in the opposite order from the one in India. When we asked to buy bottled water, Connie refused and lectured us that she, her children and her Western guests all drank tap water. The way she said it felt disrespectful and racially biased, as though we shouldn’t mind because we were Indian. The checkout on our last day was the worst part. The night before, Connie asked our checkout time. I said around 11 am - 12 pm, which is standard in India, but she insisted we leave by 10 am. We agreed since we had an 11 am spa appointment elsewhere. From 7 am onward, she and Pary knocked on our door at least 5-6 times. We handed over the keys by 10:15 am, and my husband, who is very polite and punctual, even had to ask Connie to calm down. While we moved our luggage, she ordered me to immediately take the bags I’d temporarily put outside our door, even though we only needed five minutes to move everything to the car. The unnecessary pressure ruined the mood for our entire last day. Auberge SeaFever may look charming online, but our experience was unpleasant, controlling and unwelcoming. As paying guests, and especially as honeymooners, we expected respect, warmth and service. We got none of that. I’m sharing this so other travelers, especially Indian guests, know what we experienced. Hospitality should mean treating everyone with kindness and equal respect, whatever their nationality.

Connie and Peary gave us such a warm welcome and shared local recommendations. We especially loved the time we spent getting to know them and their sweet friends. This cozy, inviting auberge is well organized and sparkling clean, in a lovely Mahébourg neighbourhood. It was a wonderful start to our Mauritius vacation and an experience we’ll never forget. Many thanks!

The rooms were clean, and breakfast was homemade, with restaurant and sightseeing recommendations too. But what stays with me most is how Connie & Peary welcomed us into their world, with so much warmth and a stunning view. Staying at Auberge Seafever felt like checking into a hotel hosted by your grandparents. We had the best time, and left with full hearts. Can’t recommend it enough!

Try for a room with a sea view at this auberge right by the water. Connie and Peary are wonderful, helpful hosts who can share information about the island and tours. The shared kitchen is well equipped, and breakfast comes with homemade jam and other things. The rooms and property were very clean, the bed comfortable, and the A/C good. I’d happily recommend this place and stay again. Many thanks!
