Veranda Pointe Aux Biches Hotel

The room was spacious and good, though the air conditioning broke twice. The beach and pool areas were poorly kept, with empty glasses and beer bottles scattered around. The pool felt like a public pool, and there were only 23 deck chairs for a resort that seemed able to hold more than 100 people. Water sports weren’t as advertised: there was one inflatable kayak, which depended on the tide, and a makeshift windsurf board used as a SUP with broken paddles. I tried for three days to use the kayak and SUP, but when they were available I was told I needed to book. The food was disappointing. The buffet repeated the same dishes for all seven days and looked like airline catering. Flies, ants, and birds were all over the dining area, and even stepping away briefly could leave them on your food. The all-inclusive deal covered only about 5% of the drinks menu. The airport Burger King served our best meal of the trip. Check-in was friendly, but we were then told about all the things we couldn’t do. We booked based on the website, brochure, and star rating, but the experience didn’t match. The section that seemed to have the 4-star rating cost extra and was inaccessible to us, despite being shown in the brochure. It also wasn’t child friendly. The staff weren’t very friendly, and even simple requests seemed like a big effort. Most things were self-service, with no poolside service, which I expected at a 4-star resort. The attitude of the staff turned negative when we spoke English. I’d rate the part we stayed in at 2.5 stars. Do your homework before visiting. I won’t return.

The dinner buffet could use more variety, since it repeats after seven days, and it would be nice if water were included with dinner. Entertainment was inconsistent. Still, I enjoyed my 10 nights here. The beach is lovely and quiet, and there’s free access to water all the time. The staff work hard and focus on keeping guests happy. The rooms were clean, and the garden was very well cared for. They’re also mindful of the nature around the hotel.

The hotel has a relaxed, stylish atmosphere that feels authentically Mauritian, and the peaceful surroundings made it easy to unwind. It’s right by the beach, with fine sand, turquoise water, and beautiful sunsets. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived. The staff were friendly, helpful, courteous, and attentive throughout our stay. Our room was clean, nicely decorated, and had everything we needed. The minibar was refilled daily, a thoughtful convenience. We had a wonderful holiday at Veranda Pointe Aux Biches Hotel and would happily return. I can recommend it without hesitation.

The food was basic, with nothing special about it. Dessert was okay, and tea time was good, though there was no juice for people who don’t drink coffee. I was disappointed by the day package we booked and paid for a month ahead. We made the reservation directly through the Head Office ER Hospitality, but when we arrived, we weren’t in the hotel’s system. They welcomed us nicely at first, yet spent a long time trying to find proof that we had booked and paid. That felt very unprofessional and left us uncomfortable. At lunch, they checked our names several times, making it feel as if they were unsure we had paid and thought we might be eating for free. When they took us to the room, it wasn’t ready, so we had to go back. There seemed to be no communication between staff. We were told our bags would be taken to the room when it was ready, but after lunch we had to collect the room card and carry our own things there. I’ve stayed at several 4-star hotels, and this was my worst experience. It didn’t meet the standard.
