The owners were always glad to answer our questions and shared helpful tips about island activities and excursions. We also really liked how close Ralu is to Bikini Beach and the island’s best restaurant, the wave. The room was clean and comfortable, check-in went smoothly, and the mornings were peaceful enough for us to sleep well. They picked us up at the harbor when we arrived, which was a big help with all our luggage. Breakfast on the terrace was very good, with a choice of Maldivian or continental food, and they were happy to adjust it to our likes and dislikes. We had a lovely stay and felt well looked after. We’d happily recommend it.
The beach is only a minute away on foot, and the water is so clear, with every kind of blue. The underwater scenery was incredible, and every excursion left us amazed. The guesthouse itself was cozy and beautiful. Ahmed was one of the warmest, kindest people we met and was always willing to help. We had an unforgettable stay and can’t recommend it enough.
Ahmed made the logistics easy from start to finish, arranging transfers between Male and Mahibadhoo, harbor pickups and drop-offs, and help with my bags. He was usually running one excursion a day on their own boat with a captain. The small groups, usually 1-4 guests, made it feel like a private trip, and I got to see some lovely places around the area. He filmed with underwater and drone cameras and included the footage in the price, which felt like good value. I’d especially recommend the nurse shark, turtle, and manta ray snorkel trips. The guesthouse is fairly new, around three years old. Ahmed clearly knows hospitality, recommended tasty, affordable nearby restaurants, and was easy to reach on WhatsApp. I liked meeting the other guests over breakfast and chatting with people playing cards downstairs in the evenings. There’s snorkel gear to borrow, and shared sea-facing terraces on every floor with sun chairs, cushions, and drying racks for swimwear. I’d stay again and take more excursions with Ahmed. The place should keep improving as the island and nearby areas develop. A couple of things could be better. The Wi-Fi is there, but it was very slow for calls, with download at 780 Kbps and upload at 670 Kbps. It’s enough for messages and bookings, but I wouldn’t plan to work remotely on Mahibadhoo. Better to enjoy island life. I stayed six nights and my room was cleaned once, after I asked the cleaner twice. Since it’s an island where toilet paper goes in the bin, and the sheets get sweaty in humid nights, I’d have liked more frequent cleaning, even just a quick clean rather than a full one.
Ahmed and the staff were so friendly. He arranged the boat rides to and from the island, handled our luggage, and lent us diving goggles and fins for free. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the shower was great, and breakfast was excellent. The accommodation is just a few meters from the beach. The highlight was diving with sharks, and he gave us drone photos and videos as a souvenir. I recommend visiting ❤️
Ahmed, the owner, was an amazing support to our family when we faced a very difficult medical situation. His calmness, kindness, and willingness to help made an incredibly stressful time much easier, and he went far beyond what anyone could reasonably expect. He showed us genuine Maldivian hospitality, and we’re deeply grateful for everything he did. Ahmed, thank you for it all.
