January 2024. I wouldn’t book this place again, even for free. We were glad to leave after two nights. The room was dark and had no window, just a homemade bed, two bedside tables, and an old wardrobe with swollen veneer. Nothing about it felt welcoming. The bathroom was the last straw. The toilets are old and wouldn’t flush toilet paper, or even flush properly without it. There was nearly a flood, and on the second day the drain was dug up. There was a strong smell in both the room and courtyard. A sign warning guests not to flush paper might help, but there wasn’t one. There’s a hand shower by the toilet for cleaning yourself. That isn’t familiar to us Europeans, and where we have seen it, it has been clean and comfortable. Here, it wasn’t. Nothing seems to have changed in 20 years. It felt like complete stagnation, and the place was impossible to enjoy as a vacation stay.
