The small beach was stunning and felt almost private, since hardly anyone went there. It was about a 25-minute walk from the guesthouse, though, and without bicycles the trip could feel long, especially if you wanted to go more than once a day. I’d suggest the owner consider renting bikes, perhaps for around $5 a day, as we saw on other islands. Inside, our room was spacious with impressively high ceilings. The bathroom sits under the roof, with an open part above that lets sunlight in and gives it a pleasant outdoor feel. Even the palms inside got some light. Hand wash, shower gel, and shampoo were provided. We didn’t notice the unpleasant smells mentioned in some earlier reviews, but one night we did find two jungle cockroaches in the bathroom. With the partially open-air design and all the greenery, insects getting in seems normal. We had something similar on another island, and leaving the bathroom light on at night helped. Atolhu Residence is in the village, and although it has no more than five rooms, it feels surprisingly luxurious. It’s peaceful, well kept, and decorated with natural materials that suit the surroundings. We chose it over other island guesthouses, and that turned out to be the right call. The owner and staff were kind, attentive, and always smiling. Breakfast changed from day to day and was enjoyable. Lunch or dinner could be ordered ahead for a set time, which was convenient. Special mention to the employee from Sri Lanka, whose name I’m sorry to have forgotten. He was friendly, easy to talk to, and attentive to details and guests. We’d happily return and recommend the guesthouse.

This was the most memorable stay of our month and a half in Southeast Asia. Atholhu Residence on Fehendhoo felt like a home, and the team made traveling with our children easy. They helped prepare baby food with hot water and equipment, arranged an extra bed and laundry, and organized our speedboat to the next island. Rakib even switched us to a smoother boat for the sea conditions without changing the price. Rakib had everything in hand from the start, including pickup, luggage, a welcome drink, and excursions. I was disappointed that I couldn’t bring my drone to the Maldives, but as a professional photographer I was thrilled that he managed to arrange a top-tier one so I could get the island shots I’d hoped for. We also went night fishing with our five-year-old son. Our catch was grilled over coconut charcoal right in front of the residence by the beach, then served with rice and fresh salad. It was fantastic. The food was excellent in general, especially the chef’s clear tuna soup. Rohan from Sri Lanka was attentive, kept our room stocked with water, and made sure we had what we needed. His professional experience from places like Dubai and hotels such as Hilton was clear. Outstanding hospitality.

The room was nice, with a comfortable bed, and the place had a cozy feel. I was lucky that it was ready for an early check-in. The staff were friendly too. Before I arrived, communication was nearly impossible, so nobody knew I was coming. I wasn’t picked up or welcomed, and getting information about speedboats was difficult as well. The Wi-Fi was very unstable.

We had a lovely time in Fehendhoo. The rooms were clean, the food was delicious, and the location was close to everything. The staff were friendly, helpful, and polite. The different trips also gave us a chance to experience the Maldives fully. We definitely recommend staying here.

The lobby and restaurant have a distinctive look, with handmade decorations and wood throughout. The owner welcomed us warmly and told us about the island on the day we arrived. The staff were well trained and the food was delicious. A very nice place, highly recommended.
