The activities were the biggest highlight, with so many arranged trips and once-in-a-lifetime experiences. I was sad to leave and already can’t wait to return. Thanks to Azzad and the whole team for making my stay so memorable. It was my first island trip, and the team at Fasdheythere made it unforgettable. They were friendly, generous and professional, even arranging last-minute trips, answering all my questions and accommodating my needs. The beds are huge, and I slept peacefully without hearing outside noise, even as a light sleeper. There were volleyball and soccer games every evening, wonderful sunsets and generous portions at meals.

The price feels too high for the service provided. Housekeeping never came during my three-night stay, and the island itself had a lot of plastic litter and seemed poorly maintained. The guesthouse sits near the volleyball court, about a 5-7 minute walk from Bikini Beach. Its restaurant looks onto the roof of a photovoltaic power plant that supplies three large hot water tanks. The surroundings really aren’t great. There’s also a second guesthouse location, a diving center to the east with three rooms, about five minutes away on foot. Bring a flashlight and GPS if going there at night. My room had an outdoor bathroom with a wastewater pit directly beneath it, which brought mosquitoes. The faucets were old, and both the safe and TV were out of order. Breakfast was skimpy, just two slices of toast, two sausages and one fried egg. Dinner was available to order and was acceptable.

Kendhoo is still fairly untouristy, so there aren’t bars aimed at tourists. For a quiet holiday among locals, close to nature and the people who live there, it’s a lovely way to experience the real Maldives. We stayed about ten days and had a great time. The room was comfortable, and the staff were kind, helpful and ready to meet our needs. Meals are usually served on the terrace, though there’s an indoor dining room if you ask. The menu is à la carte and includes Italian food too. The nearby bikini beach has loungers and hammocks. The reef out front is full of fish and is suitable even if you’re not an expert snorkeler. The guesthouse provides equipment, and there are plenty of excursions to see local marine life. We visited a deserted island and the nearby Sandbank.
