Fehi Velaa Stay

The food suited everyone, including the vegetarian in our group, and they were happy to work around our preferences for what and when to eat. We were welcomed warmly by everyone, and our three-year-old son was especially adored. Our guide introduced him to his sister’s children, who were about his age, and they played together all week. That gave us time for snorkeling and diving. A perfect island and a perfect stay. We’ll definitely visit again!

It’s a very quiet spot with hardly any noise, and Hanifaru Bay is close by for snorkeling with manta rays and, sometimes, whale sharks. The room was large, clean, and well equipped. The service was excellent, and the Kerala chef cooked fresh, amazing food.

We were the only tourists on the island at the time, which made this a very personal kind of holiday, with a touch of luxury. Near the end of Ramadan, for Eid al-Fitr, they took us to a resort island for a nice change of scenery. We spent nine nights here as a couple, diving and snorkeling with Hussain every day. The dives were great, with lots of different sites nearby. Our room and bathroom were both spacious and clean, the beds were comfortable, and the air conditioning worked well. The food was excellent, and the chef from India happily made what we asked for. We could also do yoga and sunbathe on the roof terrace.

Dhonfanu island is only a few minutes from Hanifaru, and being the only foreigners there gave the place a relaxed feel. The locals were friendly, too. The guesthouse has five clean, spacious, nicely decorated rooms with attached toilets and hot and cold showers. Jinesh cooked delicious meals for us. His cream pasta and briyani were especially good!
