Olive Goidhoo Hotel

The room was large, fresh, and nice, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was included and fine, though the choices were limited. Some items ran out, and more did come, but service was slow. They said breakfast started at 7:30, but it still wasn’t ready after 8. The hotel can arrange snorkeling and other tours if you ask, but they’re quite expensive. Other services cost a lot too: laundry was 14$ for 2kg of clothes, and only 1 liter of filtered water was included before an extra charge. I didn’t like that. I spent 3 days on Goidhoo island, which was enough for me. It’s very quiet, with little to do. I expected a small beach beside the hotel where you could relax on a sunbed, but there was only sea grass. The bikini beach is nice, and it’s the only place where you can wear a bikini; elsewhere you have to swim in clothes. It’s a 20-minute walk from the hotel. The rest of the coast was really rubbish, with lots of sea grass. The locals didn’t take care of the island: there was plenty of garbage, and people threw drunk coconut shells into the jungle, so there were lots of mosquitoes.

This is already my third stay here. The owner is such a great guy, always smiling, and a good grill master too. The local food is delicious, and they’re happy to adjust it for guests and kids, including making it less spicy. You can see the beach from almost every room, though the bikini beach is a little more than 1km away, so I’d suggest renting a bike.

Jordy and Asira will look after you here. Tell reception when you’ll reach the harbour and they’ll pick you up with a cold drink. They can also help book the speedboat from the airport or Male. The island is quite large compared with Fulhadhoo and Fehendhoo, so bicycles are handy for exploring. There’s plenty of nature, and the non-bikini beach is less than 100meters from the guesthouse. The bikini beach is about 1.5km away. Our room was very big and had a beach view, and the restaurant serves really decent food. The locals are friendly and helpful too. I strongly recommend the guesthouse and the island, with less tourists than on other islands in this atol! :)

The huge roof terrace gives you an unforgettable view of the night sky, and the rooms are clean and tidy with beautiful views. It’s the most beautiful guesthouse on the island, with a wonderful entrance to the ocean. The service was kind and helpful, and the owner can arrange everything. We had a wonderful holiday with you.
