Wings by Hawks Kamadhoo Baa Atoll Hotel

Waking up to the beautiful view from my room was one of the best parts of this trip. The hotel was calm and refreshing, in a convenient location that still felt peaceful. Everything was clean and well maintained, and the food was fresh, tasty, and satisfying. The staff were always friendly and helpful, greeting me with a smile and making sure everything was right throughout my stay. I enjoyed every moment here and would gladly recommend the hotel and stay again.

The service at Wings was personal, warm, and professional from the moment I arrived, and the whole stay ran smoothly. Manager Mr. Adam and his Manager of Operations were attentive to the details and guest satisfaction, always approachable and making sure everything went well. Roshan and Phillip served outstanding, beautifully presented dishes at the restaurant. Hussein and Adikari from the service staff were kind and made us feel welcome every day. The rooms were modern, spotless, and comfortable, and housekeeping kept them in great shape. Thank you, guys. One thing to sort out early is the return seaplane trip to Malé. Make a firm booking and get confirmation in writing. Thank you.

The staff were lovely, and that was the only positive. The rest of this stay was horrendous. What should have been a once-in-a-lifetime dream trip left me feeling scammed by the company. We were told the airport transfer was included, then found out at the end that it cost $60pp. The speedboat took 2 hours, was overcrowded with people who weren't staying at the hotel, and we had to wait an extra 30 minutes because there wasn't enough room for everyone. I assume they were trying to save money, and I can guarantee those locals weren't charged $60pp. That was the first scam. The room we got on arrival was in terrible condition, as the photos show. The bathroom door handle could lock you inside, with no way out unless someone was outside to help. It looked like they'd rushed to prepare the room, with maintenance debris still there, a stick propping up the bathroom cabinet, and a random brick inside it. There was also a loose cable in the cabinet, which was unsafe. We had no water for a whole day in the scorching heat. It was so bad that we asked about leaving, but the hotel offered us a different room. That room was fine, though it made us wonder why we hadn't been given it in the first place. After three days, we decided not to stay for the rest of the trip. We had booked 7 days, left with 3 days gone, and were promised a refund for the remaining 4 nights. The hotel said it couldn't refund us directly and told us to contact Expedia, but that wasn't true. It could refund us and chose not to. They sent screenshots saying the refund had been issued and that they'd asked Expedia to process it, but none of that was true. After days of going back and forth, they started ignoring our refund messages. We eventually gave up and hoped karma would catch up with them. Between the hidden transfer costs and extra amounts on the invoice, this was an awful experience. Avoid this place at all costs.

The hotel stay was good overall, and Hassan's service was really good too. We appreciated him. More activities like BBQs and the option to get bicycles would be welcome.
