Maldives Dive Loabi

Yoga by the sea at sunset gave us a lovely way to unwind after diving. Kristina is a great instructor and helped us feel balanced again after all the excitement. The diving itself was relaxed and personal. Kristina and Hassan took our wishes seriously, and we were rarely sharing a site with the crowds from the big resort boats. We could stay at a spot as long as we wanted, too. Our dives were usually about 90 minutes, so we didn't have to leave manta rays or a leopard shark after just 45 minutes, as we'd had to at other centers. The new rental gear was in perfect shape, and the prices were similar to those on hotel islands. We felt we got more for our money here. We'd come to dive, but Kristina and Hassan from Maldives Diving Loabi turned our stay on Fenfushi into an unforgettable adventure. We had very little diving experience, having dived in Southari Atoll four years ago and again three years ago, but their guidance helped us learn a lot and feel safe. The dive school also arranged our nights at the highly recommended Vevu Hotel, trips with local fishermen, and meals cooked by local families. Having it all organized for us made it easy to relax. We saw what we'd hoped to see on every excursion during our 14 days. We had several close encounters with whale sharks, both in daylight and at night, and saw manta rays several times as they fed and visited cleaning stations. We were almost always the only divers there. We also saw dolphins more than once, and could clearly hear them swimming beneath us. Night snorkeling and seeing whale sharks at night were completely new to us and incredible. We'd missed out on those experiences on our previous diving trips, so we're deeply grateful to Kristina and Hassan. Every outing felt like an adventure, with huge colorful coral gardens, underwater canyons full of fish, and fish keeping us company all the time. The breaks between dives were fun, too. Kristina and Hassan kept us well fed, and Ali, the boat driver, was always joking and made any wait fly by. Unlike on earlier trips, the hotel meal schedule didn't cut our time at the dive sites short. We'd recommend Maldives Diving Loabi to anyone who doesn't need an all-inclusive trip. It feels good to know our money goes to the local community instead of multinational hotel corporations, where people can get overlooked. If the Corona crisis allows, we'll be back by next year at the latest. Thank you, Kristina and Hassan!
