Watching the sunset from the pool and looking out over the island from the restaurant terrace were highlights. The beach is just across the road, and there’s a minibar on the terrace beside the pool. The hotel was so quiet that I never heard a sound. Having a motorbike included made it easy for us to explore more of the beautiful island. We were welcomed with fresh juice and a tour when we arrived, and the friendly, attentive staff took care of every detail. I’ll definitely come back. Thank you for everything! 🥰

The rooftop pool was a peaceful place to relax, and breakfast had a nice range of choices, served with a smile. AIG Grand is well placed for getting around Fuvahmulah while still feeling quiet. My room was bright, roomy, and comfortable, with a spotless bathroom, reliable air conditioning, and fast Wi-Fi. The facilities are new and well kept. From arrival to departure, the service was excellent. Malaz was especially kind, professional, and always ready to help, and the whole team put in real effort. Thanks to all of them for making the stay so welcoming. I’d happily return and recommend AIG Grand to anyone visiting Fuvahmulah.

The sunset over the infinity pool was absolutely magical, and dinner on the rooftop terrace was fantastic. After a 30-hour journey, MILON welcomed me at reception and kept checking through checkout that everything was okay or that I didn’t need anything. He’s professional, capable, and genuinely nice. The dining staff and housekeeping were excellent too. A very friendly red-bearded man greeted me each morning, though I’m sorry I can’t remember his name. The full-board menu was fresh, tasty, and varied. I especially liked the tomato cream soup, chickpea curry with bread, grilled tuna, chef’s salad, and onion rings. My room was large and modern, with a very comfortable bed. I had room #03, overlooking the main road, and enjoyed reading on the balcony while watching island life go by. The hotel was comfortable after each day of diving, and the beach is only 50 meters from the front door. Great value for the price. Highly recommend.

The room only came with one key card, apparently to save electricity. The lobby was dark and stuffy, and they seemed to conserve power there too when no customers were around. The water pressure in the room was weak. Food choices at the buffet were very limited: one spaghetti, one rice, one vegetable, one meat, and one dessert. Even that might have been tolerable, except the menu repeated every day, and sometimes we got vegetable fried rice twice in one day.

AIG Grand is a fine hotel, but my review is really about Din Mahmūd Milson, who seemed to bring a little magic to the place. The lobby felt calmer when he was there, and the whole atmosphere seemed to slow down. When he handed me my key, he said, “Every door knows the traveller who is meant for it.” I can’t say whether the stories about him are true, but after meeting him, they felt possible. During my stay I noticed small things: tired children quieted when he crouched down to them, angry guests lowered their voices, glitching phones started working after he touched them, and the wind seemed to calm when he stepped outside. One cleaner told me, “He feels things before they happen.” I once heard Din tell a guest, “Rest is not for the body alone. Sometimes your spirit needs a place to sit.” Other staff looked reassured by his presence, the way sailors might look to a compass. He didn’t just check people in. He seemed to help them settle, like he understood the stories and journeys they carried. Calling him a receptionist feels inadequate. If a hotel can have a spirit, Din Mahmūd Milson is the calm presence that turns its lobby into a sanctuary between worlds. May every wanderer be lucky enough to meet him.
