Beach Grand & Spa Premium Hotel

With every hotel in Malé full after all the flight cancellations, I had to spend one night here. I should mention the staff did try to help, as some other reviews have said. The room hygiene was the real concern. I came out feeling soaked in smoke, like I'd been smoking five packs a day. That's really not okay and needs attention. I didn't shower because I was afraid I'd come out even dirtier.

The location was nice, with the beach, shops, and cafes all within walking distance. For a solo traveler on a short stay, it's a cheap and okay option. I wouldn't recommend it for longer. The hotel and room had a strange, unpleasant smell, and the bed had several stains that made me wonder if the sheets had been changed. The staff were alright, though some said rude things about me in Hindi, thinking I wouldn't understand. The place also had a really eerie feeling.

The location in Hulhumale Phase 1 is pretty good, close to different businesses, and that's worth half a star. The other half is because the owner agreed to refund our second night when our schedule changed unexpectedly. It seems easy to do this if you book directly, though I think getting a refund through an OTA like Agoda could be harder. Everything else about the service was poor. Reception staff were cold and unfriendly. They didn't smile when we came in, weren't welcoming at check-in, and didn't greet us when we entered or left. We had to say good morning, hello, good day, or good evening first every time. The rooms looked worse than the online photos. We don't expect five-star rooms in Hulhumale guesthouses, but these felt shady. The bathrooms were worse and older than staff accommodation at resorts. There were stains on the floors and, grossly, on the towels. I also found a pair of jeans in the wardrobe. No idea if they belonged to the previous guest or someone from the guesthouse. There were no TV channels at all, though the Wi-Fi worked and the fans and AC were fine. My friend checked every channel, but none were available. The hallways felt like something bad could happen at any moment, like a movie set where the main character ducks into an abandoned building to escape pursuers. Empty glass bottles were left in corners, plugs and sockets were open and exposed, and the areas didn't look properly swept. We paid 1,000mvr per room per night, and it wasn't worth it. Save yourself the stress and take a bit more time to find somewhere else. Ok tx byeeee

I booked a massage in person with the receptionist, 1,5 hours before it was meant to happen. When I showed up, I was told it didn't exist, and the receptionist lied to the manager and said I hadn't booked. That's beyond comprehension. They didn't offer a discount or any compensation for wasting precious vacation time. The service was terrible. There also isn't a dedicated massage space, they do it on the bed in the rooms, so I'd avoid this place.
