Joy Island Hotel

Hassan made us feel welcome from our first day through departure. He was friendly, professional, attentive, and always ready to help, which made our stay even better. Joy Island Resort itself is gorgeous, with clear water, white beaches, and a peaceful feel. Our room was spacious, modern, and very clean. We also enjoyed the varied, high-quality food each day, and the all-inclusive plan was well organized and worth it. It was an amazing holiday, and we'd happily return. A great choice for a comfortable luxury stay in the Maldives, and one we'd recommend.

The food was a real highlight for us. Chef Tharanga's Sri Lankan crab was sensational, and Pastry Chef Iresh's desserts were brilliant. The tiramisu is among the best we've ever had anywhere. Thanks as well to Chef Anton, Chef Sandun, and the whole kitchen crew for making us feel so welcome. Naveen was attentive and always checked that we had what we needed. At the restaurant, Tutu, Richal, Remi, Sandun, rozairo and the rest of the staff greeted us with smiles and made us feel at home. Hambe, Raghu, Bandula, Sanih, the management team, and chefs Anton, Iresh and Tharanga were all wonderful too. We can't name everyone, but the whole Joy island staff and management were so kind. We had an amazing time and will definitely come back. Thank you, keep up the great work!❤️

Maria made us feel cared for from the moment we arrived, always friendly, helpful, and professional. Richarl and Garcia were just as attentive and warm when serving us in the restaurant. The food on the all-inclusive plan was excellent, with lots of quality choices for different tastes. The island looked exactly as we'd imagined the Maldives: clear turquoise water and lovely white sand. Our stay at Joy Island was amazing and went beyond what we expected. We'll definitely return. We were struck by how beautiful the island is: the beaches are gorgeous, the grounds immaculate, and our room stayed spotless. Most of the staff were lovely, warm, and hardworking, and the resort manager tried to help near the end. We appreciate that we were offered a small room upgrade for our last two nights, a floating breakfast, and dinner at the Japanese restaurant. But a homophobic incident involving a staff member on day three seriously affected our honeymoon. We reported it as soon as it happened, yet nothing meaningful was done until day nine, after we raised it again. From day three on, we felt uncomfortable and couldn't properly relax. That's a terrible way to feel on a honeymoon, especially after paying a lot for a place marketed as a luxury, inclusive resort. The gestures came too late to undo the distress. The floating breakfast arrived cold, and the starters at the Japanese restaurant were cold too, while we waited for all the guests to arrive for the cooking show. That only strengthened our sense that the remedies were symbolic rather than restorative. Joy Island is undeniably beautiful and many staff members were excellent, but the handling of our serious concern left us deeply disappointed. We wanted to love it, and in many ways we did, but it fell short of what we hoped for and what should reasonably be expected.
