Novina Hotel

The breakfast was excellent, but took a long time. Staff were fine, and the location was convenient, though it could be noisy. We woke up to the sound of prayers in the morning. The rooms are clean, but some need better maintenance. Most don’t have windows, so be sure to book one with a window if you want one. The room was very small and compact, but fine for a one-night stay.

It’s an affordable hotel within walking distance of the jetty for speedboats to the islands. The room was small but had all the necessities, and the staff were attentive and helpful. We had to wait a little to check in because a few other people were in line. Breakfast had a good selection, too. Highly recommended.

The staff were friendly, which was the one good thing about this place. But the hotel itself was a disgrace. We paid 220USD for one night for two, after buying a voucher at an airport kiosk because bad weather meant we had to stay in Male. The room and bathroom were both tiny and dirty, the towels had black stains, and it looked like the room hadn’t been cleaned in a long time. There was mildew everywhere and a bad smell. During the night, water started leaking through the bathroom light, and ended up all over the floor. I assume the people in the room above were showering.

The hotel was nice, though the room was small and the WiFi very slow. The staff were so helpful, though: they picked us up from the airport, paid for the ferry and taxi to the hotel, then did the same again at 6am the next morning to help us catch our flight to the resort. That help deserves five stars.
