Coquillage Inn

The beach is lovely, and the people are very friendly, but I left deeply disappointed. There was a smell everywhere, the food was the same every day, and the place felt boring for a longer stay. Activities like diving cost extra, and I felt they should be included in the price to make the stay more appealing. It might be okay for 2-3 days, but I wouldn’t want to spend a full 7-day holiday there. We paid about $140 a night. I later found a water villa online for the same price and wanted to switch, but my boyfriend wanted to stay. The worst part was the airport transfer. I told the hotel my return flight was at 9:20 and that I needed to be at the airport two hours early. They still arranged an 8:00 boat. We reached the airport at 8:25, and our luggage was handed over before we walked until 8:40. Check-in had closed at 8:20, and online check-in in the Maldives wasn’t possible because they only use paper forms. I had to book and pay for another ticket. Nobody seemed to care. I wrote to the hotel and got no reply. The transfer costs $25 per person. They won’t take you if you’re alone or with just one other person, and instead wait until there are 6-10 people before leaving, regardless of how urgently someone needs to catch a flight. I believe the hotel should make sure guests get back in time to check in. I can’t afford to miss a flight, and if that happens, I think they should cover the cost. Nobody has contacted me to clarify the expense or even apologize. I also wrote to Booking.com, and they said they would remove the hotel from their listings because it wasn’t taking responsibility for guests. Guests need to feel safe and secure. What a shame. I honestly wouldn’t recommend it.
