Dive Villa Thoddoo Villa

Anna, Rimma and the rest of the team at Dive Villa Thoddoo looked after me so well. They also arranged my boat trip between Male airport and Thoddoo, both ways. I had a very comfortable, enjoyable stay and would recommend the place for either a short or long visit. Room #5, tucked deep inside the property, had everything I needed: a large comfortable bed with clean sheets, TV, bedside and ceiling lights, wardrobe, fridge, hangers, ceiling fan, air conditioning, drinking water, and a bathroom with shower and toilet. The villa has several rooms, a restaurant, and a lovely front yard with an outdoor kitchen. It was peaceful and quiet there. The location is great. The supermarket, ATM, children’s playground, boat station and harbor are all about a two-minute walk away. Sunrise Beach is 5-10 minutes on foot, and Sunset Beach is 20 minutes. There’s also a stadium, mosque and several restaurants nearby. I ate all my meals at the restaurant, which was convenient since I didn’t have to look elsewhere. It served Russian, Maldivian, and international dishes, and other tourists came for lunch and dinner every day. The outdoor kitchen was useful too, with complimentary tea and filtered water. I often used it for a late-night cup of tea or to peel a mango. Daily room cleaning was offered, but I barely made a mess and didn’t need it.

I was greeted at the harbor by the host, 'Mama' Rima, who walked me to the guesthouse and welcomed me with a refreshing coconut drink. She showed me around, including the Black Anchor restaurant on the top floor. Thoddoo itself is a lovely local Maldivian island, and I’m already looking forward to visiting again. The reception and lounge are green and inviting, with plenty of cozy places to sit and relax, especially on rainy days, which are rare outside the rainy season. My double room was spacious, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The restaurant deserves its own mention: in my view, it’s the best on the island, with a menu and food quality well beyond what I expected from a local island. Black Anchor, the restaurant attached to Dive Villa, serves what was probably the best food on the island. I stayed for a week and found this well managed place a great value, with little to complain about at the price. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, cleaned daily, and breakfast was really nice. The staff were super friendly and took care of everything I needed with a smile. Thanks especially to Zayeem, Alice, Raju and the rest of the team for making the stay memorable. The two tourist beaches are about 15-25 minutes away on foot, and are easily among the best beaches in the world. They arrange excursions and trips on request. There’s also an amazing dive school close to Dive Villa that I highly recommend.

The bedding looked old and grey, and the bathroom was awful. My room smelled of mold and was full of mosquitoes. It was also very far from the beach. Avoid this place, there are plenty of other good hotels on the island.
