Thulusdhoo Surf Camp

Robin and his wife Mari know the surf spots well and provide great boat service. The photos were great, the prices reasonable, and the packages good value. Thanks for all the support. Our family really enjoyed our time in Maldives and the food was great too.

We left Guest House Surf Yoga Thulusdhoo feeling tense and disappointed. Although we met kind people there, including Ali, Vicky and Mariela, the problems with management, service and our surf boat package overshadowed the stay. We can’t recommend this guest house based on our experience. Robin’s response to our concerns was unsettling. Rather than address them, he pointed to the island’s size and development and to Muslim culture. We’ve stayed on smaller, less developed Maldivian islands where professionalism and guest satisfaction were much better. The boat package had repeated delays and disruptions. Our transport never arrived to collect us at the port, and tensions between Robin and some locals, unrelated to us, also affected our decision to cancel. When we asked for a refund for the unused days, Robin made it difficult and threatened not to return the money. After a lot of back-and-forth, he agreed to cancel, but only if we accepted a higher price for the trips we had already taken, despite our original written agreement. It felt like pressure to make us accept a loss, and left us feeling deceived and mistreated. Meals were another disappointment. The buffet had little variety and sometimes ran out of basics like chicken. When we raised it, Robin blamed his staff’s limited English and didn’t offer a solution. His attitude did improve a little near the end. After seeing several guests were unhappy, he became more approachable and tried to help with minor problems. That came too late to change our impression. The Maldives is beautiful, but we’d advise others to be cautious and consider somewhere that honors its agreements and puts guests first.

Cokes and Chickens are right at your doorstep, and the other great surf and dive spots are an easy, fun boat ride away. The accommodation is modern, clean, relaxed and friendly. Robin’s Family were sweet and genuinely welcoming. Robin took great photos both in and out of the water, and gave useful advice on surf conditions. The staff also cooked plentiful, healthy meals all day. I can’t wait to return in April. Thanks, Robin, Mariela and Aisha potato, you made it special.

Surf Shed has a big menu and everything we tried was super tasty. We spent a week surfing and relaxing at Varunula, and the place was just right. The rooms were clean and spacious, and Cokes is easy to reach from here. Bikini beach is only about a five-minute walk away. Thanks for a great stay. I’d definitely recommend it and will be back!
