The desserts were mostly stale, the sandwich bread was so overcooked we could hardly bite through it, and the order took a long time to arrive. Service at Heritage cafe by Tsiranana Road was very rude. We were asked to order a lot just to sit there, and when we called for help nobody responded until the manager came. After ordering, we explained to the woman that we only wanted desserts and drinks. She rolled her eyes and walked off. Adding items was inconvenient too: after coming upstairs, we had to go back down to pay separately for anything else we wanted.

The food was good, especially the rice, chicken, noodles and salad, and the reception and restaurant attendants were kind. But the rooms need attention. The bathroom walls had black residue that looked like it had gone unscrubbed for a long time, the stained bedding had turned brown instead of white, and the carpets weren’t clean. The place looks good from outside and has potential. Food: 4/5. Service: 2/5. Atmosphere.

I loved the Chinese garden and the pool, and being somewhere secluded suited me fine. The food was good, the drinks cold, and we slept, ate and played well. The beds were great, the rooms a good size, and the showers well built. There’s a lot to like, including the conference packages and service. It could be five-star once the renovations and setup are finished. The road in needs fixing, and there was no gas at dinner. Bring insect repellent. I could happily stay a week or even months without getting bored.

I’ve stayed here twice and would gladly return. The room was tidy, well furnished, clean and comfortable, and the whole place had a lovely feel, with distinctive rooms and excellent breakfasts. The welcome from the friendly staff and reception made us feel at home right away. Really wonderful hospitality, I’d recommend it to anyone.
