The shower temperature was easy to adjust, but the drain was slow, so we had to keep showers short before the water built up. The toilet worked well and had an exterior bidet, which I didn't use. I slept well enough on a decent bed, though my room faced a busy road and there was steady background noise at night. My roommate and I weren't bothered by it. We'd opened the windows before going for a walk around town, and when we got back the room was full of vehicle exhaust. We left the door open and ran the A/C high for an hour to clear it. We had two double-bed rooms and one single-bed room for our group of one-night guests. I had to borrow the coax cable from a friend's room to watch TV. There were only five channels, and just two had acceptable signal without interference. We were near the end of our trip, so I'd grown tired of the local food and skipped breakfast. My colleagues said it was the usual Malawian spread. We'd gone out for dinner the night before, so we didn't try the lodge's restaurant.

Yeah, a nice place to stay, with good, healthy food, especially the Indian food.

I'm staying here now. I was the only one among my colleagues put in a room without internet, which really isn't good. After I posted that, they offered me another room, though they could have done it sooner. Buying a SIM card is probably best: 10 GB costs 7500 kwacha, about 2 pounds, and that's especially useful if you're going outside Lilongwe. The breakfast is nice, especially the coffee and Spanish omelette. The staff are really nice too. I left my old passport behind, and they gave it back when they found it while cleaning the room. I also felt safe leaving my valuables there, like my phones, laptop, and PHONE charger. The location is good if you want to explore the old part of town. We asked reception to arrange a taxi to see lake Malawi. The price was good at 40 pounds, but the car was broken and the driver was anxious, so we barely made it. Maybe don't ask the hotel to provide a driver. It takes 11/2 hr to Salima, then another 1 hr to reach the Lake. The lake is big and beautiful. We all slept well, and it was a nice experience overall.

The service was really good, and the manager was especially helpful. It’s also well placed, right by the mall and other local spots.
