Korea Garden Lodge

I had a working lunch at KgL and picked up a few items from Christopher for my upcoming trips. They also washed my car while I ate. Lunch was superb: yummy Guchujang with spring rolls to start, followed by vegetarian noodles. I took the noodles home and added roasted nuts. Yum yum!

The people are so nice, the facilities are great, and the rooms are clean. They serve authentic Korean food, too. It's also very close to the golf club and shopping malls. Overall, great!

It's a good, simple lodge if you're not after anything fancy. The restaurant area is pleasant, and breakfast is included, quite standard for Malawi. Rooms are very spacious and well equipped, but a little run down, with soft furnishings badly in need of an update. Staff are helpful. The room safes don't work, though you can leave things safely at Reception. The pool didn't look inviting, and I suspect it isn't used much. Unfortunately, after dinner at the restaurant one evening, my husband was violently sick. We were sure it was the vegetables.

The setting was pleasant, and some of the staff were friendly, but customer service was very poor in my view. Three waiters were serving the guest area that evening. They focused on one table with foreigners and attended to them carefully, then stood around idly when they weren't handling those requests. They paid no attention to me and the two ladies with me at dinner. I had to get up several times to ask where I could order food or drinks. By the end of the evening, one of my companions said the food might have been nice, but we couldn't enjoy it because of how we were treated.
