The lodge has a homey feel, with lovely decor and delicious food made fresh. The area is quiet, nice, and safe. Staff and owner are very friendly, and it's clear the owners care a lot about the place. They're making improvements almost every day. Wi-Fi, breakfast, and kayaks are complimentary. Definitely recommended, A+.

We picked this place for its convenient location near the ferry port and ended up preferring it to Cape Maclear, where we took a day trip. The room was lovely, as were the staff, food, garden, and private beach. The new owners had only been there a month, but were already doing really well. They've painted and redecorated with a lovely eye for detail. We stayed four nights, would happily stay again, and recommend it.
We had a fantastic stay at Monkey Bay Beach Lodge. The campsite was shaded by big mango trees, which helped with the heat, and our showers and toilets were clean. The restaurant was lovely, with a dinner special every night. The lodge is also about an 800 meter walk from the main street of monkey bay town, where there are lots of shops, bars, and places to eat. People are incredibly friendly, and it's well worth exploring on foot. Kayaking is a must. We rented kayaks every day and visited nearby islands and swimming spots. The water was clear, with plenty of fish to see, and some nice rocks to jump from, just be safe. The lodge beach itself wasn't that great for swimming, though we did see a few other guests go in. There's a scenic 5 KM hiking trail right at the start of the lodge, passing three traditional fishing villages in the Cape Maclear nature reserve. It has beautiful views of the lake and mountains, and a chance to talk with locals. One night, one of the owners, Frank, organized a traditional Malawian dance and drum party for guests, and we had an absolute blast. Sadly, rain interrupted despite our calls for it to go away and come again another day. Thanks again, Frank! I highly recommend staying here.
A wonderful bay with a lovely view, especially from the boat and on the hike. The host and service were awesome. If you can time your trip well, enjoy the ferry ride.
Kayaking is always a new experience here, with beautiful scenery. If you're curious and paddle far enough, you might spot places like blue lagoon. Dinner has a daily offer, plus vegetarian delicacies and a great selection, all at very reasonable prices. The room was spotless and neat, with a very comfortable bed and mosquito net. I loved the spacious terrace for unwinding after a day of kayaking, and the lake view was gorgeous. The bathroom had interesting local touches and the necessary toiletries. I don't usually eat breakfast, but the beautiful, healthy spread always tempts me to try some fruit mix. It's total tranquility, and I'm always excited to book another trip. The lodge lived up to its excellent reputation. Looking forward to going back, it's the perfect spot for a weekend or even a week away.
