We didn’t stay the night, just stopped by while passing through by kayak. Aaron welcomed us when we landed on the beach. Lovely staff and a nice vibe. The beef samosas were the MOST amazing EVER, even if the food is expensive. The pottery is awesome too.
The room stayed stuffy and damp, and the place was infested with fleas. Power went out frequently, leaving both the air conditioners and kettles unusable. The food was undercooked, and eating it caused vomiting and diarrhoea. They only take cash in US dollars and refuse Malawian Kwacha. If you insist on paying in Kwacha, they won’t use the official exchange rate and instead force you to exchange at several times the rate they set arbitrarily. The owner’s attitude was appalling and the service extremely poor. This is a fraudulent, exploitative rip-off establishment.
The road there is treacherous, but the place is worth the trip. Rooms are lovely and comfortable, and the food and service are great. Treat yourself to the bacon wrapped fillet, it is to die for!
It’s an amazing, affordable place with great service and food to die for. The chilled environment is perfect for relaxing, and they grow their own vegetables. Just amazing. Malawian spirits, though, are ridiculously expensive.
Good food and a nice beach. The one downside was guests being allowed to bring speakers and play music full blast.
