We usually book at Fiesta American, but it was full, so we tried the Hottson. It looks nice from the street and has a good reputation. Most of the hotel has been refurbished since the hurricane. Our room was clean, comfortable and updated, with a nice shower, bed, TV and view. The pools were well kept, with plenty of places to sit. The hotel seemed only about half full, which surprised us since Fiesta Americana was booked. There are activities for kids around the pool during the day, and the pool area is very convenient to the beach. The service was the big letdown. For a hotel this size and price, I'd give it 2 out of 10. There weren't too few employees, they just didn't provide service. At the swim-up bar, five staff members were gathered by the register about 20 feet away, and none came over. I had to whistle to get someone's attention. He took our order, then I had to track him down again for a refill. It felt the same throughout the hotel. If you want service, you have to go find it. Everyone looked unhappy, like they'd rather be somewhere else. Of the hotels I've tried on the costera, this had the worst service. That's a shame, because with good service I would've rated it 4.0 for Acapulco.
