City Express by Marriott Aguascalientes Sur

It's a basic, bare bones chain hotel, but the rate is good for what you get. The staff are great, as you'd expect from people in Aguascalientes, and there's nothing misleading about the hotel concept. It's near the airport and a couple of places to eat, which helps if everything else is booked or you have an early flight. I'd stay again if I needed to.

I stayed for three nights. The location is handy, next to a main road in and out of town and right by a Starbucks, and the staff were friendly. Still, I didn't have a satisfying stay. I needed somewhere to sleep and shower, and although the hotel was clean, the beds weren't comfortable, the shower curtains were too short, and the thin walls let me hear people in nearby rooms. The interruptions were frustrating, too. At 7 am on the first morning, an employee knocked to ask about dry cleaning while I was asleep, even though the request tag was still in the closet instead of on the door. Around 8 am the next day, someone else knocked and said she was checking who was still there. My key stopped working on day two and had to be reprogrammed, then failed again when I returned midday on the third day. Street construction made getting to and from the hotel a hassle, though that wasn't the hotel's fault.

My room's air conditioner wasn't working, but they moved me to another room quickly. Breakfast is served from 6 to 10 am, and from 6 to 8 pm there's a happy hour with free beer and soda.

Everyone made us feel welcome, and we enjoyed the stay a lot. Clean, convenient location, and a great price.
