We could walk to the center of Ajijic easily, and the mountain trail was only half a block away. The house and its view were lovely. The street is steep and cobbled, so it could be tough for anyone with mobility concerns, though for most people it’s a good workout and the view makes it worthwhile. Communication was easy, security was on point, and the pleasant caretaker was helpful. We didn’t get a chance to swim, but the pool looked beautiful. If there’s a fiesta down the hill, music and flash bangs may carry up at night. Otherwise it’s quiet, with morning rooster calls that are kind of charming.

The villa was even more stunning in person, and we had an amazing stay at Rancho San Rafael. We’ll definitely be back.

Pasamos un buen dsscanso en familia en esta propiedad tan grande y bien cuidada, que tiene todos los servicios. Nuestro contacto nos atendió muy bien. Gracias, sin duda regresaremos.

It’s a large place, but it’s badly neglected and doesn’t match what was promised. The bathrooms were filthy, and the living room door was never opened. There was no water at all when we arrived, not even for the bathroom. One room’s shower was clogged and had no hot water, and a toilet seat in another room was loose. The garage door didn’t work and was left unlocked the first night. The place wasn’t clean, and the TV in another room worked only sometimes.

A charming, beautiful property right on the shore of Lake Chapala.
