We spent two nights here and won’t be back. The place still has some charm, but it’s seen better times. Our main problem was how unfriendly the reception staff were. The complimentary breakfast was decent, and it’s a short stroll to the lake. Quite a few expats from Canada stay for weeks or months during the winter.

We live nearby and came for breakfast on the patio with our dog, who was welcome there. The service was very friendly and efficient, and the location by the lake is lovely. The brunch special was tasty and good value, and my husband ordered from the regular menu. As vegetarians, we were happy with the options. We’ll be back soon!

I came back with two friends after remembering this place fondly from eight years ago, but was very disappointed. The property has declined and needs much more care, cleaning, and updating. Check-in felt unfriendly until the owner arrived, and the front desk service was inconsistent. My first room had no AC. After moving, I had no hot water for the rest of my three-night stay. Breakfast was delicious, but service didn’t start until 9:00 am. There was loud banging in the middle of the night, too.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. There’s a real difference between being historic and feeling as if nobody cares for the rooms or property. The front desk service was unfriendly and unwelcoming, and the website photos don’t show what the place is really like.
