Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya Hotel - Adults Only

The jungle scenery throughout Secrets Akumal was beautiful, and I especially liked that walking between places took you through it. We loved our room, the food was delicious, and everyone we met was friendly and eager to help. There was something to do at any time of day or night, with more choices than we've seen at other resorts, including water bikes, kayaks, a bicycle tour, and a jungle tour. The Deliriya night show was awesome. We also appreciated the pop-up food stations around the pool during the day. A special thanks to Metz, our lovely and caring concierge!

We spent a week at Secrets Akumal, and it beat our previous stay at another Secrets resort in Punta Cana. The food was a big reason. It was well seasoned, nicely cooked, and genuinely delicious. Hibachi was okay, but I'd probably choose the main dining options for better variety and quality. Portofino, Bordeaux, and El Patio were all excellent, and we went back for seconds. The three pools each have a different feel: the main pool is loudest, the center one a bit quieter, and the third the most peaceful. They get breezier in that same order, since the third is farthest from the water and shielded by landscaping and buildings. Unfortunately, people still get up early to reserve pool loungers and beach chairs. The property is showing some age, including inside some pools and on building exteriors. Management seems aware and appears to be patching things as they go. Thanks to Luisa for helping book spa appointments, Tere for a terrific massage, and Ricardo for his concierge service. There was seaweed during our week in mid-May, but the property did what it could to reduce it. A truck came each morning, roaring along the beach from 7am to remove the collected seaweed. I still got to snorkel and see all kinds of fish, and went on a turtle snorkel tour with good visibility.

From the start, the staff paid close attention to anything we needed, even things we hadn't thought of. At the preferred lounge, the service was especially wonderful, and Gina, our personal concierge, deserves a special thanks for helping make our anniversary trip memorable. The resort was beautiful and exceeded our expectations. Our room looked lovely, the food was amazing and beautifully prepared, and the entertainment was wonderful. We could join activities as much as we wanted or just lounge and enjoy the surroundings.

The pool became one of our favorite spots, thanks to Eduardo and Ivan at the swim-up bar. They were attentive, friendly, and fun, and Eduardo’s personality and eye for detail made our days there feel extra special. Osuna, the pool concierge, kept checking that we were comfortable, while Luis and Cruz were quick, smiling, and caring. We’ve never had better service. We also loved the food throughout the resort, especially Portofino and Bordeaux. Breakfast, poolside lunch, and dinner were all consistently high quality. The entertainment team brought plenty of energy to daytime activities and evening shows, which we looked forward to every night. Our stay at Secrets Akumal had a great balance of relaxing and having fun. The resort is beautiful, and the atmosphere felt peaceful but still lively. Gina made things easy as our concierge, and the spa was unreal. Ana gave me a perfect massage, and my boyfriend loved his too. He thinks his therapist may have been Brianna, though he can’t remember for sure. Every staff member we met was kind and professional. We were genuinely sad to leave, but we’ll absolutely come back.
