Casa Terracota Bacalar

The pool needs a proper cleaning, though we didn't use it. We stayed two nights and the house wasn't cleaned during that time. The location is hard to beat, Casa Terracota is about two minutes from everything. It has air conditioning, a TV, and Wi-Fi. We had said in the reservation and again at check-in that there were two of us, and the woman confirmed it, but we still got only one towel and one shampoo. They can also arrange a boat trip on the lagoon 😁.

During our two-night stay, nobody cleaned the room. The pool shuts at 6 pm, so there isn't a chance to use it at night. And the shower was barely more than a trickle, with no hot water at all.

It was quiet and peaceful, with nobody disturbing us. My only suggestion for the room would be to add a full-length mirror. The place is central and feels safe, and the staff are so attentive and helpful that they make you feel at home. There’s a pool, TV, hot water, and the basics you need for a comfortable stay, all for good value. I thought it was a wonderful place.

The room was basic and had air conditioning, plus access to a pool, but there was a musty smell. It’s a really central spot, just a few steps from the center. Bikes are available to rent nearby, and the lagoon is quick to reach on foot or by bike. At $600 a night, it’s excellent value.
